SUBJECT: # 19312: Rust removal recipes

Submitted by Bob VH (205.188.196.44) from TEXAS on 3/12/2001 5:25:00 PM

I know this has probably been done to death but I'll ask anyway.

Recently my boat hoist siezed up and repairs had to be made with the boat still in the slings. You know what is next...It is rust city. The boat looks like it has freckles!

I have tried Ospho in the past with limited success, do any of you guys have the miracle cleaner? I have a good supply of elbow grease, but we need new ideas for a cleaner.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Good fishin'....Bob

Don't laugh, just try it as a first step. Rust is rust but you have to start somewhere.

Toilet Bowl cleaner called "the Works" or Sno-Bowl will remove rust stains in seconds. Just make sure you wash it off well. Hydrocloric acid is nasty. You can't beat it for that yellow scum line that all saltwater boats get. Try it, you will believe....
