not just remove them and glass them? Reading past threads regarding replacing them, I'm wondering why not just glass them and be done with it. I dont need to put a plug into them at any time....
I guess the only issue would be epoxy adhesion with water in there, should there be, which I'm assuming there will be.....
Any thoughts guys?

It was tedious but something to do during the winter
when you can't fish anyway. If you don't need to fit
a drain plug, it saves a big step. First thing I did
was remove the brass tube and dry out the hole by
putting a 60W trouble light next to it for a week. In
the meantime I formed the glass/epoxy tube by covering
a piece of PVC pipe with wax paper so epoxy
wouldn't stick to it and wrapped about six layers of
7 oz. glass cloth around it, soaked with epoxy. I had
to thicken with a little cabosil to keep it from
running out of the cloth. If it's going through a
transom, probably wouldn't need more than 2 or 3 layers
of cloth. The glass/epoxy tube will be thicker than
the brass tube, so either the drain diameter will decrease
a little or the original hole will have to be enlarged
a bit. When it's cured, slide it off the PVC pipe, file
off the odd bumps, and cut to the needed length. When the
hole is dry, coat the inside of the hole and the outside
of the tube with thickened epoxy and slide the tube
in place. I laid two layers of glass strips between
the inside of the tube and the hull/liner to give those
joints a little more strength; this may not be needed in
a transom. For my drain tubes, I used the method above
to put in an oversize tube for strength, then made another
tube the size of the drain plug and epoxied it inside
the first without any additional cloth on the ends.
Figured it would be easier than overbuilding the first
tube and filing out the opening to fit.
