SUBJECT: # 25741: Clip? Pin? for tilt limiter rod?

Submitted by Steve_K (68.18.20.26) from NORTH CAROLINA on 7/14/03 10:05:00 PM

Hey folks: this weekend, when I pulled my boat out of the water, I noticed the tilt limiter rod for my '98 200HP Evinrude was barely hanging out of one hole.

I was able to slide it back in (it was slightly bent), but one end is missing a clip, or something, so there's nothing to prevent it from sliding out again....

Anyone know what to ask for? Like an idiot, I left it in th bracket, 3 hrs away. The end of the rod appears to have a small groove, where I'm assuming the clip thingy fits. If I order a new rod will it come with the needs clips?

Thx

Steve

The end of the rod has a metal piece that has a rolled pin through it. The metal piece is shaped sort of like a diamond with the long ways about 1 1/2 inches long. This piece has has a hole in the middle with the rolled pin though the stop and the metal piece. When inserting the limiter the diamond shaped piece goes through the hole and then it folds over to hold the limit pin in place. I hope this helps. If not let me know and I will try to get a picture for you.
