Are mercury saltwaters better than suzukis? I can get basically the same boat for the same price with either a 125 Merc or a 150 Suzuki. The added HP would be great, but am I losing quality going with the Suzuki?

LocalMotion (24.186.53.1) from NEW YORK says Well, the suzuki's are great motors but...
...there are drawbacks to them. They are harder to sell than other manufacturers' motors. Their rods-pressed onto crankshaft assemblies are EXTREMELY expensive should you have a problem with the motor after warranty...and the only problem they usually have is a siezed piston, which means a bent rod which means the entire motor winds up to be worth about one small step away from trash. They (suzuki) also do not replace motors that do blow up under warranty. They usually opt to make you wait while they fix yours, then you paid for a new motor and wind up with a repaired motor.
If the price was very right, I would power with suzukis', otherwise I think I would prefer to go with the new evinrudes/bomb's.
Can't speak about merc's. Someone else will chime in.

Nm this thread. The mercurys were on Tracker boats, and the Suzukis were on Travis boats. I think I'm going to go with a Blue Wave at the least. Maybe a Pathfinder. Thanks for the response though.

MrDo from TEXAS says You might want to consider a ..............
...Kenner Vision model or even a Scout. Both well made boats.
