SUBJECT: # 26872: Transom replacement on a Zodiac

Submitted by Canuck (24.235.225.54) from Canada on 9/9/04 9:56:00 PM

Anyone ever attempted to replace a rotten wooden transom on a Zodiac? Mine is rotten where it joins the rubber "boot" that is glued to the tubes. I figure a luan/epoxy laminate painted would be easy to pull together, but how to glue it to the rubber?

Is this a possible DIY repair or best left to the pros?

Wood to rubber gluing... Try calling Zodiac and see it they will tell you how they do it. I'll bet they do it with heat when the rubber is soft..
