SUBJECT: # 27452: Can I salvage whats left to the season

Submitted by Chris (12.111.54.68) from CONNECTICUT on 10/3/05 5:15:00 PM

1989 Evenrude 150 hp (twins). Power trim motor died while I was raising out of the water at the end of the day. Can I lower the motor somehow so I can continue to use the boat until I haul it for the season. 25ft boat so it isn't practical for me to haul it for repair. If I have to pull it, it will be for the rest of the season.

On the port side of the engine bracket is a manual relief valve. All you have to do is open it and you should be able to lower motor and then close up again. Make sure you have a big screwdriver to fit the slot as they can be tough to open up. Good Luck, What port are you out of? Tim

I noticed that however it is on the other side of the bracket, a slotted screw that is recessed into the motor bracket. I cracked that open until a little fluid came out, nothing. I even ran the motor hoping the force would push it down. I'll look at the port side to see if I missed something. I'm out of Cedar Marina in Black Rock Bridgeport.

You need to look on the outside of the bracket, it's there. Remember, BIG screwdriver.
