SUBJECT: # 27876: tilt and trim motor/ can the switch be bypassed?

Submitted by reel (69.22.110.198) from Japan on 2/3/2008 5:18:00 PM

on a 88 ev 150, can the switch be bypassed by disconnecting under the hood and using a known good battery to make the motor run? green or blue to +, neg to grd on the motor?

Reel, I suspect that that 150 is wired the same as my '88 V-4. Don't have the diagram with me at the moment, but seem to recall that the T&T is controlled by two relays. When you push the UP switch, it sends 12V to one of the relays which closes and connects one of the red or green motor wires to +12V and the other wire to DC Return(-). When you push the DOWN switch, it closes the other relay and applies the opposite polarity to the motor wires. Good luck.

You can test the way you said. Green for up and blue for down.
