SUBJECT: # 27878: yamaha 130 no shift

Submitted by Mal (68.142.12.38) from CONNECTICUT on 3/2/2008 4:04:00 PM

Recently had water pump (Nov. 2007) changed in 1994 130 yamaha 2 stroke, trailed boat to beautiful florida keys on fri and sat put in water today. Engine started fine smoked for 5 minutes burning off winterize oil, then I put in gear and propeller does not rotate. Checked shifter action in topside of motor and it appears to be fine. Does anyone think that when water pump was changed shift rod position was changed in lower unit. Is this an easy fix? Thanks

Sounds to me like shift linkage didn't get back in hole in lower unit. If shifter is moving at top end, something should be happening at lower end.
