SUBJECT: # 27901: Mounting Riptide Trolling Motor

Submitted by windknot (74.197.157.4) from NORTH CAROLINA on 7/11/2008 6:29:00 AM

I am mounting a new bow mount Riptide trolling motor on my 22' Jones Brothers skiff. Where is the best location to mount the motor. The boat is flat bottomed and the bow is square. The boat is shaped very much like a large rectangle so I see no advantage to the motor being in the center of the bow -vs- on the right or left side of the bow. Does anyone have any experience on mounting locations?

Just kidding. I have to agree with you. I would put it where it would be easy to control and not be in the way. I think I would put it on one side so the casting deck is clear. Maybe on the left side if your steering console is on the right to help balance out the boat.
