SUBJECT: # 27902: 2000 Fitch Popping Fuse PLEASE HELP!!!! DUNK, SAL, SEAHORSE, SOMEONE!!! Submitted by Steve (67.86.42.70) from CONNECTICUT on 7/17/2008 11:48:00 PM Hi guys, hope someone can help. I have a 2000 225hp evinrude fitch that pops a 20 amp fuse that is a inline fuse, the small auto type blade type, right behind the fuse panel. It only pops when the motor is cold, like the first start of the day. I can go out and ride around, shut it off for hours and it starts right up. It started one day, I went to start the motor, it cranked over but didn't start, I turned the key again and it was dead, didn't crank, but the motor went up & down. Had the mech come down & he thought it was the starter solinode but it wasn't. He went bavk to the shop to check the computer data base & came back to check the fuse & it was blown!! He told me that the circuit is the ignition exciter which takes the 12 volts & boostes it to 40 volts through the ECM or EMM (the very expensive computer). I had the computer rebuilt once before for a salt build up (the water passage was clogged) and that was about $1000.00. So if anyone heard of this please HELP!!!!! I could buy a lot of fuses for a $1000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!
