F - O - B , Thanks for the reply to my previous post. Next question , What can I do to protect the fuel system on the 1978 mdl. 900 Merc from the effects of the new E-10 type fuel? ( considering that is the only fuel available in my area as I know ) Thanks for any help. David

I've got a Merc 400 of that vintage with the same potential problem. Of course one hears official rumors that anything up to 10 percent ethanol will not cause fuel system deterioration, but I'm still nervous about running E10. For a motor that old, not much chance of finding alcohol-resistant replacement parts.
