SUBJECT: # 9647: Coleman Canoe patching

Submitted by Slimbob (204.143.157.113) from PENNSYLVANIA on 4/14/99 8:24:00 AM

Have a 6" crack on the hull just above the waterline on my Coleman 17' canoe. It's old but been good to me over the years. Am able to patch small holes with melted shavings from a piece of bulkhead I have but this is a crack and when I put heat to it it just spreads.

Are there any kits for this or what can I do? Bob

I've heard that you can repair them with snow ski bottom repair sticks. These look like little sticks, you melt them and drip them on to fill the crack, then heat a putty knife to smooth it out.Good Luck.
